It's fairly easy to jump to conclusions however some conclusions can be made from the obvious.
Here's the problem. As you said it happened during Holy Week the day after Palm Sunday.
- The fire started less than 10 minutes after the cathedral was closed.
- The fire spread far faster than it likely should have which would make the use of an accelerant quite probable.
- The yellow vests wouldn't do this. They are, after all, French. Notre Dame is one of France's jewels.
I hope this isn't terrorism but everything up till now is screaming it. Too many timeline coincidences.
I'm speculating that arsonists hid in the place until it closed.
In any case, this is a massive disaster.
Because terrorists historically have chosen to attack buildings and locations at times least likely to have occupants?
And chemicals that are accelerants are never used as part of a major restoration....

Let's wait for the investigation.
It's just his opinion. He's entitled to it. What's it to you?
They are saying it's going to be a total loss. And if it IS terrorism, I think we will know pretty quickly. Terrorists aren't usually shy about claiming responsibility.
during Holy week.....I'm sure it was an 'accident'
we'll likely never know the truth. that govt will never admit its terrorism. honestly wouldn't surprise me if they pinned it on yellow vesters
I doubt the French government would disclose or admit it was islamic terrorism even if they had clear evidence. Not saying it was, but we will never know because it would never be disclosed.
It's very sad. I saw it as a teenager and found it impressive. My first thought was also that I hoped it wasn't a terror attack, but it wouldn't really fit, since there was really nobody left in the building, so while it's upsetting, it's not terrifying. Thankfully this occurred after hours and not when it was filled with tourists.
