I have bought numerous (100s) political, technical, investing, etc. books over the decades. Over the last few years, I've moved over to audible for all of my purchases. While I like to read, being that I'm an IT guy, I do it every day for hours. Nothing can suck your brains out of your head like technical reading.

Listening has become so much easier and is more engaging.

Problem is that I can't show them off on my bookshelves Darn such an opportunity to virtue signal completely lost!

Even though it means spending significant amounts of money to buy their own books, hitting bestseller status helps authors in other ways. Indeed, Jarrett’s web page advertising her as a paid speaker already notes that she is a “Former Senior Advisor, Obama Administration; Bestselling Author.”
The bribe comment was in response to Rakin who said it was a bribe. Like I said, that's almost dumb.. If I wanted to bribe a politician, money in a Swiss bank is better than getting stuck with 10000 books nobody wants.

Political groups do it all the time.
