I made a pretty good living in WV but that was the Eastern Panhandle and Morgantown areas.
Outside of that the state is pretty much a festering sore with population loss, lack of living wage jobs, poor educational attainment etc.. facts don’t lie.
One of the major issues before I left (no FLED), was the fact the state was becoming nothing short of a cheap retirement place and the burden on services would outpace revenues.
No place to raise kids.
That’s why WVU exports the majority of their students elsewhere, very few remain in state unless they are a tort lawyer or nurse.
