Socialized medicine. On average doctors in the USA complete a 4 year undergraduate program, spend 4 years in medical school, and then complete 3-7 years of residency training. Do honestly believe our best and brightest are going to waste up to 15 years of their life only to end up working for crazy Bernie. I don’t think so, they’ll probably end up choosing a more lucrative career such as a plumber. What we’ll end up having is three stooges for doctors like in Canada.

So in your view, doctors are only in the profession to make money? Then good riddance to them. I hope they do go into plumbing, because I don't want to be treated by a doctor who cares nothing of my health except for how much it can enrich him or her. Those people don't belong in medicine to begin with.
A very good friend who died young 17 years ago was an emergency room doctor. His career came from some odd coincidences when he was a teen.
When he was a kid, his family was a bad one, very disfunctional, and he grew up angry and surly. Flunked and skipped school a lot until he fell in with another boy who was even worse than he was and was even tougher. That boy became his only friend, and he copied everything he did.
On the last day of school of his 8th grade year, they were looking at each other's report cards. My pal was proud of his Fs until he say his idol's card, which was all As. That confused him. He thought gangsters were supposed to flunk out.
His tough-guy buddy said, with some scorn, "Don't ever let anyone think you are stupid unless you are."
That changed him. He left home, moved in with an uncle, went to another school, got a part-time job in high school, worked his way through college and med school and chose emergency medicine because of his aggressive nature. He could save a life when no one else could because he wouldn't ever give up.
He was always intense, but he was never a punk. As a doctor, he never really knew how to spend his money because he didn't really care about money. He gave it away to the po' folks who came to emergency with wounds and burns, 2 wives went through a lot of it, and some went to buying the season ski tickets, hot rods, and other stuff he loved.
I'm sure living with him was hard at times, but he was kind, generous, caring, and had found his niche in life. He was never really a punk at heart, and once he found his path, anyone who met him for the first time would have never known how different he was as a kid.
His intensity burned him out young, as often happens, but he died happy after saving hundreds of people's lives and bodies from being crippled. He loved being out there at the edge of life and death daily, where he could fight on the side of life.
Not all doctors are in it just for the money or status. He did it because he loved medicine and his job was perfect for his nature. He didn't have many close friends, but he sure left a lot of very grateful strangers behind.
Hold up. Do you honestly think that doctors in countries with universal healthcare systems are hurting financially? LOL.
As someone who grew up in a country with UHC, who has 2 first cousins who are doctors in a country with UHC, and who previously worked in a healthcare-related field in a country with UHC, I can tell you that you have a lot to learn on the subject. Doctors in countries with UHC might not be AS wealthy as American doctors are, overall, but they're doing just fine, believe me.
(not to mention that the populations in those countries have much better access to medical care, and are healthier than Americans are).

So would you rather be treated by someone that luvs the profession though is completely incompetent and unqualified.
There is a reason that socialism does not work. A CRNA doing anesthesia for my cases on Friday was born in Cuba and his mother is still there. When he goes to Cuba, he says he runs across cabbies who were physicians, but quit to be come cabbies for tourists, as they make a lot more money. Socialism sounds good to those who seek cheap or free services. The problem is human nature- people will seek jobs that pay them the most for their services.
And were there actual examples of Medical socialism you could point to as failures you might have a glimmer of a point to hang your hat on.
Until you can detail an actual practicing true socialist country existing today and one which is limiting their medical healthcare delivery to a pure socialistic model, the rest of the world will keep what it's got going for it while your country flounders in a quagmire of supposedly capitalistic superiority.
We're doing fine...you, not so much as witnessed by the plethora of threads on here in the various boards all clamouring for a change to your healthcare system.

Hate to shock you, but I know a lot of Doctors personally, and they did not get into that game for the financial reasons. Most are hard working, dedicated people who want to do good things, and they work hours that you and I would never accept.
I work with a young guy who is beginning his journey to become a cardiac surgeon, and he and I have talked about this at length. He could care less about the money (although it would be nice to make a nice living) he is doing it because it has been his passion since he was a young kid.
Same reason Veterinarians get into that business, they love animals.

Wel;l they allow the same to post on these boards don't they?
