In my life, I've only seen new and higher taxes generate the need for even more new and higher taxes. Education, medical, housing - you name it - none of it seems to get better.

That said, I'm ok with taxing billionaires more, they all seem to say they should pay more but mysteriously lack the wherewithal to figure out how to give more money to the government. Whatever additional tax dollars are generated can then be wasted by both parties.

It started out a train wreck. Meant to write Great is the enemy of good.

Basically there is no PERFECT solution here, but people being upset at a good thing because they didn't benefit from it, will maintain a bad thing. The current student loan situation is untenable.

That being said student loans should not be a profit making industry. That is the biggest problem right now. I've paid about 140k in student loans in the last decade and have knocked about 35k off the principle.

Its bad public policy. Reduce it to 0% and the debt becomes manageable for people, they pay it, nobody is mad.

So banks should give you money to go to college for free and what charge me more for my mortgage?

GTFO

Its good public policy. There are tax breaks/benefits for all kinds of activity that is good for society. Educating oneself is one of those things.

When my parents both got their doctorates in the 60's they borrowed money at between 1-2%. Why is that now 5-9%?

Elizabeth Warren $640 billion plan: $50,000 debt forgiveness gifts for student loans and tuition free college degrees

She can promise anything she wants, I don't think she has a snowball's chance in hell of winning the nomination and doubt she could stand up to a debate with Trump. We need someone who'll tell Donny to Pi** Off when he starts one of his juvenile tirades.

Trump's family name is an off-color word? Who knew.

Nah, Trump is just a spoiled, petulant little brat who long ago opened the door to being insulted by going off on his own pissy little tirades. He'll pick what he's planted and it won't be pretty.

Why do his fans object to the usage of his actual family name? Its German origins?
