Vance, a Democrat, said in March that a New York grand jury charged Manafort with 16 counts including residential mortgage fraud, falsifying business records and other charges. Still, it does indeed seem odd given the nature of the charges.
Probably a political stunt, "rikers" makes for a good headline.

There is A LOT of grandstanding going on in NY politics with regards to Trump.

Basic politics 101, if someone is popular in your state\district etc. you cozy up to them....if they're unpopular there (Trump certainly is to a high degree) then you set yourself up as their rival.

Trump is very unpopular in New York. And no one knows Trump better than New Yorkers.

I'm always puzzled why you guys defend Manafort. Why do you care? He committed multiple crimes. Do you think he should be a free man?

Still not answering my question that I posed to Saltine (it went predicably unanswered) and now will pose the question to you:

Manafort committed multiple crimes. Do you think he should be a free man?

Not at all, I think he should be sharing a cell with Tony Podesta.

That Podesta is still a free man after Mueller's dog and pony show is the biggest travesty of all.

No American citizen was convicted of colluding with the Russians...you did read the Mueller report didn't you.

What actually happened was to find a Trump supporter and find a crime, in that order.

Being collusion's not a crime, WHAT charge is it you think he skated around?

And let's be honest, Trump was not exonerated of obstruction of justice, only shielded by his office and DoJ policy. You did read the Mueller report, didn't you?

In that case I don't know what your issue is.

What do you mean by "if Manafort had remained neutral"?

The guy was still committing crimes even while he was awaiting trial.

He's the type of person who has crime in his DNA.
He was never going to 'remain neutral', whatever that means.
One way or another Manafort was always going to wind up in jail.

Nah, if Manafort had not joined Trump's team, neither Mueller nor the FBI would have re-opened a case against him.

There's a thought.

The Mueller investigation uncovered something that should worry everyone, no matter politics: That apparently crime is rampant among those who've reached a certain level of power, or influence, or wealth.

Nonsense, Manafort was always going to jail.

You don't appear on the FBI's radar for no reason and he has been under surveillance by the FBI for years.
