Obama White House summoned Ukrainian authorities to Washington to coordinate ongoing anti-corruption efforts inside Russia’s most critical neighbor.
Ukrainian participants said it didn’t take long — during the meetings and afterwards — to realize the Americans’ objectives included two politically hot investigations: one that touched Vice President Joe Biden’s family, and one that involved a lobbying firm linked closely to then-candidate Trump.
That makes the January 2016 meeting one of the earliest documented efforts to build the now-debunked Trump-Russia collusion narrative and one of the first to involve the Obama administration’s intervention.

The January 2016 gathering, confirmed by multiple participants and contemporaneous memos, brought some of Ukraine’s top corruption prosecutors and investigators face to face with members of former President Obama’s National Security Council (NSC), the FBI, State Department and Department of Justice (DOJ).

Fine. Whoever has broken the law needs to face the consequences, whichever side it is. Unfortunately, Trump doesn't have to face his consequences, but that is the world we live in now.
I am no fan of Obama or Biden but you do realize this is an editorial not a news story. Not that the two do not blur more than they should of late. But this is someone's opinion that may or may not have a shred of truth to it.
For me this reinforces my belief that we should not be getting involved in other countries affairs. And it should be illegal for private American citizens to do so. That includes Manafort, Podesta or whoever. If they want to work in the Ukraine or wherever. Fine denounce your citizenship and never come back.
If you want to stop the Russians or other countries from influencing our presidential elections simply make it illegal for any campaign to have any sort of contact or meetings with any person from a foreign country or government. Zero tolerance. No excuses that the campaign did not know the official capacity of the person in question.
If you don’t want your campaign to be investigated by American intelligence agencies, don’t be in constant contact with representatives of a foreign power.
Surveiling foreign assets is their job. If you become entwined with those foreign assets, you come under surveillance yourself.
Anyone with an objective brain will see it began with the Obama administration. He should be in prison.
