Ohh good, a freebie. I thought this was going to cost taxpayers money. I mean freebie means it’s not going cost anyone any money, right?

Minimum wage has not been rising as it should over the decades, anyway. This is also because of greed. But you know we bailed out banks and have corporate welfare, tax cuts, loopholes and tax havens for the rich to just protect their money, not have to pay their fair share of taxes and gain more in their sleep than an average working person can see in a lifetime.

And you want to deny these people a modest little 1 bedroom apartment which amounts to about 600 square stinkin' feet to live in? You don't think they deserve that if they're working full time?

And no job is unskilled. Every job takes some kind of skill. If you had absolutely no skills you would not be employable.

Maybe get down off that high horse so you can see more clearly.

Do you think everyone who is a landlord is a 'fatcat' ?

Anyone with $1 more than that poster is the equivalent of Eva Perron hoarding from the masses....

Harris seems to think there is "money" available to give away. 100 billion for black housing, 76 billion for rent subsidy, 1,500 billion for student loan bailouts, free college, free healthcare.........

We are now 22 trillion dollars in debt. There is talk of cutting social security and medicare (never talk about cutting medicaid ) Where is all the money for this "free stuff" going to come from? Heck, if interest rates increase so will the amount we have to pay in interest on our debt.

Rents are high everywhere. Here in rural Tennessee rents are almost as high as health insurance premiums.

Just to say, rent amounts in So. Cal (or other parts of CA) are extreme. Regular rent for those with better incomes is alone ridiculous, then Low-income or Income-based housing having waiting lists for are nearly impossible to get on, having so much competition for. There is always talk of and though more housing developments are created or assistance for, it seems the situation does not improve having too many in need.

It appears that Housing in some other parts of the country, whether renting or buying, does not compare.

Well, here is one example:

Invest in education and infrastructure instead for a long lasting fix.

We kind of do through the mortgage deduction.

Note the original idea might well have inflationary implications.

Random idea.
tax unoccupied dwellings higher.

Ive heard that in the hottest markets, many dwellings are investments sitting empty.

Complex complex problem involving zoning, NIMBYism...

Original idea likely will not work.

So low income people will be able to rent luxury apartments that would otherwise consume all of their income if it weren't for the feds subsidizing it for them? What could possibly go wrong?
