For Trump supporters, it actually is all about identity politics. It's about white Christian identity. It's about this idea that America is a white Christian nation and ONLY white Christian culture should be tolerated.
Trump supporters are certain he will be re-elected because they have been saying, since the 1980s actually, that they are a "silent majority" who believe in God, guns, and traditional values. Whether or not that's actually true is a bit complicated.
Republicans must beat the drum of the cost for all the free stuff Democrats are promising and how it will drive the economy into the dirt, stop the wage growth, and slow job creation.
Personally I am glad Trump lovers are so confident. Reminds me on how confident Hillary supporters were and loo what happened!
the difference though is that trump keeps pulling big crowds t his rallies, hillary didnt. hillary needed stars to come to her events to draw the crowds, but when the stars left, most of the crowds did as well.
but i agree right now it is too early to tell what will happen in 2020. we will have a better idea around july or august. at that point the polls will be narrowing to show the true mood of the country, and we will see what kind of energy and crowd draw the democrat candidate has.
A lot of posts seem to suggest that it's incredulous to think that it won't be a cakewalk for Trump to be re-elected in 2020. In reality, the environment is competitive, and the Democratic candidates aren't walking parodies of social justice warriors like a lot of you seem to think anybody to the left of Breitbart News is. What exactly makes you so confident?
If the Dems run a crazoid lefty SJW they lose in 2020. If they run a moderate they have a chance. This is not rocket science.

Dude, you have it backward. The identity politics issue is the domain of the left. Trump and supporters is a reaction to the identity politics on the left.
He will not get through the primaries without having to kowtow to the anti white left.
There is no anti-white left. That is a talking point of the Republicans or at least Donald Trump & Company. I think you are misguided in that belief.
