A prominent Iranian lawyer has been jailed for 38 years and sentenced to 148 lashes after she defended women who removed their headscarves in public.
Nasrin Sotoudeh, an internationally renowned human rights lawyer jailed in Iran, was handed maximum sentence for all of her seven convictions.
The 55-year-old represented protesters against the Islamic Republic's mandatory headscarves for women, many of whom filmed themselves taking off the garment and posing it on social media.
Sotoudeh, who has represented opposition activists, was arrested last June and charged with spying, spreading propaganda and insulting Iran's supreme leader, her lawyer said.
Its unlikely that any amount of sophisticated bombing is going to change their backward culture, so maybe we should just leave well enough alone over there.
Their laws. We have some here just as bad. If you saw the news, a bus driver in New York raped a 14-year-old girl and skated. I would have flipped the switch on him. Another story recently concerned a legislator in Texas who was so "pro-life" he wanted the death penalty for any woman who got an abortion (and the man involved walks).
We need to sweep our own porch before we go abroad looking to be offended.

Their culture, their religion, their laws and their women.
Don't even think of bringing that crap over here to the US of A. Many of our more empowered women shoot back.
