Boeing’s mere presence in South Carolina was already viewed as a union-busting move when the company first opened an aircraft production plant there in 2011 rather than Washington state, where Boeing had unionized operations. South Carolina has the lowest union membership rate in the United States at just 2.7% of workers. The National Labor Relations Board filed a federal complaint against Boeing for the move, accusing the company of violating federal labor law...
The complaint was dropped.
Citizens were systematically convinced over the last several decades that companies being required to provide a livable wage and adequate worker protections would make jobs disappear. The reality is, businesses were going to move labor intensive production to countries with no worker protections regardless of if American workers were in a union or not.
In the gilded age, robber barons had to hire Pinkertons, police and military to bust up unions.
Now they control the lawmakers, allowing corporations to bust up unions legally.

Unions had a place a hundred plus years ago, but now govt regulations are in place to protect workers from abuse, and there are armies of lawyers waiting to go after businesses that break laws.
I have to laugh at the OPs post. More drama from the union snowflakes. Simply opening a plant in a state where union thugs aren't allowed to terrorize workers into paying money to their little club is "union busting"? How about unions try offering enough value that people want to join-instead of being extorted to do so?

Don't even get me started on govt unions....
Trump and his Republican goons are actively trying to gut these government protections. It's funny that you even use "government protections" as an excuse to bust unions when you know you support Trump and the GOP and their efforts to erode these protections. It makes your argument extremely hollow.

Trump can't do anything about state laws now can he?
Many states, like mine, have much tougher labor laws than the feds do.
All associations should be voluntary, whether it be employee or employer.

Boeing can and should choose to do business wherever and however they choose such that they maximize the return on investment for their owners, same as any other business in existence. If a move from Washington to South Carolina helps accomplish that, good for them and good for their shareholders.
