The Florida legislature also passed a bill to limit citizen initiatives in the future.

Seems the Florida pols really hate their people and what they want.

Correct. The GOP Congress in Florida couldn't care less what the citizens vote for. This bill was voted through by overwhelming majority of citizens, and the Congress gives them the finger by overruling it. They did all they could to block the medical marijuana bill as well, but in the end had to give up.

Yes, right, once they have done everything I mentioned as well as paying off any fines or restitution...that is when their debt to society is paid in full.

In most States they can.

You are welcome to have your opinion, but it is 100% irrelevant, because the citizens of Florida voted to restore their voting rights in State of Florida, so you can go pound sand.

Unfortunately the GOP Congress is telling the FL citizens to go pound sand as well.

This is NOT democracy. Why vote at all, when the GOP will ignore the outcome unless it was in their favor?

Yes
But this law likely won’t stand when challenged in court
So the FL legislature has just proven once again it is compromised by special interests groups that DON’T include the interests of the majority of Florida residents...
2020 can’t come soon enough...

And the (Democratic) legislature in Maryland did the same a few years ago to limit referenda.

I can't believe so many of you are so, obtuse is the word I'll use instead of a more appropriate one, to not realize fines and restitution are part of the sentence.

While I agree the GOP SENATE ignores the wishes of majority of Americans
This was done by the FLORIDA STATE LEGISLATURE—controlled by the conservative alt-right GOP legislators
NOT the US Congress which passes FEDERAL not state legislation

They are not a part of the sentence. A prison sentence is what it says it is: a prison sentence.

Yes. Obviously. GOP does not even control the Congress (house) at Federal level.

Like I said in my earlier post:
