Gun nuts don't care how many people get shot, they somehow manage to feel persecuted because people don't appreciate their toys/fetish objects above all other concerns.
Anti-gun nuts revel in every shooting as it advances their agenda to remove a constitutionally guaranteed right.

Im assuming by your definition I would be a "gun nut". And I certainly care anytime an innocent person is shot. It's very unfortunate.
It's even more unfortunate that from the initial reports there was no one there able to protect the vulnerable students.
So yeah, project your own subconscious opinions on to someone else.
It's not a toy nor fetish. It's a righteous tool of sport, self defense and liberty. I'm sorry you can't understand that. And like anything it has the potential to be abused.
No different than a 5000 lb soccer mom suv or minivan. Their purpose is one thing but in the wrong hands (for example a drunk) the tool is used inappropriately.
The reasons people cite (lack of a spiritual life and sense of right and wrong, poor parenting, a sense of being ignored/bullied, general meanness, etc.) other than the US approach to guns certainly can contribute to tragedies like this happening.
But for those elected to represent, serve, and protect us who have said the ease of access to guns and a culture among a significant minority that glorifies guns have nothing to do with this kind of thing happening, that it's all about mental health, they need to show us the following:
1. An update on the specific legislation that they have passed or are in the process of working on to improve mental health, specifically to prevent such senseless acts of violence from happening. And this has to be a very significant contribution that is readily identifiable in improving the mental health system, not just lip service, platitude sayings, or vague campaign promises.
2. Specific peer reviewed studies or other compelling evidence showing how the changes to the mental health system that they are making outlined in (1) above are going to be more effective than more tightly regulating firearms than how they are currently regulated. It also needs to be clear that such studies or evidence is not being tainted by groups or entities who have a vested interest in having more firearms in circulation, such as the NRA or similar organizations, or gun/ammunition manufacturers.
If they can't show us proof of both, their feet need to be held to the fire for not doing so, especially when they've been so overly confident on how easy access to guns and a culture that is way too cavalier in thinking this has nothing at all to do with these recent tragedies.

Why can't we just pass more ineffective gun laws that restrict the rights of people who didn't commit this crime? That would make us feel better, wouldn't it?
Disappointed? Do you care only about school shootings? <<<<We know the answer....
