Buttigieg actually has some real intellectual credibility. Highly educated Rhodes scholar. Aside from his time at McKinsey and as Mayor, he also showed real guts and duty to country by serving. He's a combat vet.
Trump, on the other hand, is just a low-life troll who is good at making other low-life trolls guffaw.

What's your definition of combat vet. ? Someone who was in a combat zone ?
He spent a grand total of 7 months in active duty.
The way he and his supporters play up his military "experience," you'd think he was 4-star general.
My intention is not to take anything away for someone, anyone, who served. There are many war veterans who served in combat zones who never saw any combat.
Someone IMO is a combat veteran if they received attack even if it was only mortar or rocket. Someone who was under attack or engaged the enemy and fired on them is a combat vet. With that in mind I see no evidence Buttigieg was a combat vet. He is a vet and served in a war zone and I take nothing away from him if he is a combat vet or not. He served and that's what counts.
He was in military intelligence. One of their jobs is to debrief people who were in combat and plan missions based on what they learn from debriefings. It doesn't mean they actually saw any combat.

It's just being pointed out that people (namely his supporters) overhype his military experience.
