I think it's messed up a doctor can legally let me die now. What am i going to do, check reviews as I am dying or have 911 take more time to find someone who will treat me?

First paragraph of the link says:
Quote:
On May 2, 2019, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Office of Civil Rights (OCR) released a final rule that heightens the rights of hospitals and health workers to refuse to participate in patients’ medical care based on religious or moral grounds. The rule covers OCR’s authority to investigate and enforce violations of 25 federal “conscience protection” laws. Tied to the US Constitution’s spending power, the rule applies to state and local governments, as well as public and private health care professionals and entities if they receive federal funds such as Medicare or Medicaid. The rule applies to a range of important health services such as abortions, sterilizations, assisted suicide, and advanced directives—extending to sex reassignment and HIV treatment.
Discrimination? I would say yes on both sides. A doctor opposed to doing abortion or assisted suicide because of religious/moral objections could have the sexist, racist, and -phobic labels applied to them. On the flip side, them having to do it through something like a court order (hypothetical for that) is or could be seen as discriminating on the doctor's religious/moral viewpoints.

Don't like it ?
Find a Doctor that is willing to assist in your abortions, sterilizations, assisted suicide, and HIV treatment.
Problem solved.

Yes, but this is reality in our new fundamentalist Christian America. If you aren't white, heterosexual, and fundamentalist Christian you might as well not even be human in this country nowadays.

The Christian Right has won the culture war. The Bible all but supersedes the constitution now and soon it will.

I'm Christian and I am amazed at the savagery of the Church of Trump. I don't know what faith Mr. Retired is following, but I have a feeling it's not Christianity and Christ's teachings. I think it's Trump's teachings.

Stop obfuscating.

No medical professional should be required to perform abortions, assist in patient suicides, or perform "sex change" operations. That's where the "conscience" comes in.

Good try, though.

You are being about as extreme (opposite end of the political spectrum though) as the side you are calling out for being extreme.

Why is that a problem to you? I don't follow Christianity, does that make me a bad person in your eyes?

I am not saying this as an attack on you.

You have been led astray by the Media. There are thousands of Christian denominations, and they all disagree with each other.

The media has decided to label denominations that are against homosexuals as 'fundamentalist'. That is the media talking.

I belong to an extremely fundamentalist denomination, we have always been fairly proud of that label. From our study of the Bible, we form our doctrine. Everyone has some preferred drive toward some flavor of sin, for some it may be murdering, or others it may be sodomy, for another, it might be stealing. All of us carry within us some sin that we would prefer to do, our favorite flavor of sin. My sin is no greater than your sin. God is willing to forgive us.

Being homosexual is not a sin, doing the action of sodomy is a sin. I know many homosexuals.

The Old Testament is very clear about when 'soul life' starts in a baby, the term is 'Nephesh Chai'. Actual 'fundamentalist churches have no real issue with abortion. Their concern is that way too much pre-marital sex is going on, to require these abortions. But abortions themselves happen before Nephesh Chai starts.

Please stop using the term 'fundamentalist' when it is applied in error.
