After kicking down many doors and locking up many doctors for doing what the government told them to do - make sure patients are pain free, the rate of narcotic prescriptions has dropped dramatically. But something strange (to liberals) is happening. Drug deaths are higher than ever: https://www.njspotlight.com/stories/...or-new-jersey/
Maybe the “evil” doctors aren’t the problem. Maybe drug addicts will just find and use drugs wherever they can. Maybe the problem is the person who chooses to abuse drugs and not the doctor who gives you medicine for your broken arm pain. Something to think about. No doubt things will get much worse with the drug legalization push.
Lol...you’re REALLY gonna sit here and absolve the doctors and pharmaceutical companies from their role in the opioid crisis because the government supposedly forced them to give dope to people so that those people would be “pain free?” Surely you jest.
This is just like the big bank crash during the mortgage crisis. Folks actually tried to push a narrative that banks were forced to come up with those bad loan products that the banks enjoyed so much. The government made them do it...
People can still get opioids regardless of a paucity of official prescriptions. If you don’t need a prescription to get a line of coke, why would anyone think that a script is necessary for OxyContin or any other drugs? The Genie is out of the bottle now. Too late.

Possibly because those additcted to prescription drugs are now buying street drugs such as heroin, which organised crime has now stepped in to supply to all those unfortunate presription opoid addicts.

Again as I’ve pointed out, if a pharmaceutical company makes a drug and sends it to market, it will find its way on to the black market with or without prescriptions. There’s a market for the drug on the street, and the street prescriptions will get filled come hell or high water.
If you don’t need a prescription to get cocaine, why would anyone assume that you need a prescription to procure Fentanyl? The law of supply and demand always works with or without the government intervening to grease the gears.

every single person I know of, and there have been many, were never prescribed anything. They were buying heroin and pills to get high from the beginning.
For those fortunate enough to live close to the Mexican Border, you can easily find a Dr. at a Border town who will write you a prescription for anything, and it must be honored at the Border, if written by a Mexican Dr. That's the law!
I was just down to Nogales yesterday and my friendly Dr. only charges me $3.50 for a prescription. I'm really not into pain meds, but I like to keep them around just in case. And antibiotics.
I would imagine that there's a slew of prescript drug addicts in San Diego, only 14 miles to the Border.
It was never the prescriptions, it's people buying heroin to get high.
Of course it was (is) the prescriptions. That’s how people gained access to that stuff to begin with. Again, why in the hell are you guys trying to absolve the pharmaceutical industry and doctors for their role in this mess? It’s been well documented that opioids were extremely overprescribed, and that those pills made it onto the streets.
Yeah, there’s a stubborn heroin problem too, but the opioid issue goes hand in hand with it.
