It would be interesting to find out the ages of the voters/posters in this topic.

In some states you cannot buy a handgun under 21 although most let you buy a long gun at 18.

So someone can stand next to me in line at the polling place and can answer my country's call but they can't have a shot and a beer? Eighteen gets my vote.
I would be willing to make an exception to 21 just for you- show a military ID and you can drink at 18. Otherwise wait till you are 21!

I do not have any problem with a teenager drinking at dinner at home in the presence of his parents. He isn't going to get up after drinking a glass of wine and kill anybody else (hopefully).

I agree totally with Bazzwell. At 18, you can vote for the people who will lead our country, and you can be drafted and sent off to kill people in foreign countries ... but you can't handle a beer? Honestly, it's the most ridiculous thing I can think of.

Raise the driving age to 18, lower the drinking age to 18, make it all federal law, and then at least there would be some consistency and common sense to all of this.

But how is this remotely constitutional? You want to discriminate against a portion of US citizens! Do you also think blacks should be watched closer for violent crime?

What you fail to realize is that not all of us 18-20 year olds live at home at suck at the parental teat! Some of us have to work thru college and accumulate debt. It's obvious you think of us as children (and it may be true for some) but I would like the honor of telling you where you can stick your generalizations.
