To be honest, there are several reasons to be jealous but not angry. Those include wealth and playboy playmate wife.

Who cares what someone else does with their money? It is his to do with as he pleases and the government was not involved.

I earned a full tuition scholarship that amounted to more than my town's average income per year. It never, ever, ever would have crossed my mind to be angry that others found financial relief for trying to better themselves. Removing that burden ripples out and helps all of us.

It was *only* because of that scholarship and my lack of student loans that I didn't end up on the street when I was diagnosed with stage IV cancer a few months later. Who knows how many businesses will be stared (and people employed) because these students won't be paying $500, $700, $1000 a month in student loans. How many people will be able to pursue careers in social work, primary care medicine, or public law because they don't have to worry about paying back undergrad loans on top of grad school for (relatively) low paying professional roles. Who knows how many people will be able to afford kids before they're 40 or be able to buy homes from an aging population. How many people will be able to weather the crises of life like I did without the anchor of student loans around their ankles.

There are two kinds of people: the people who go through something challenging and use their fortitude to help make it easier for those who come after them, and the people who look at people who have it easier and feel resentment. Work on becoming more of the former, rather than the latter.

We sure could use more like him.

Student loan debt is a major economic hurdle in the USA and it's an issue that few other developed nations face, because the cost of higher education in those countries is less burdensome.
What a wonderful thing to do. Saw one of the graduates interviewed, needless to say he was extremely grateful (already talking about giving back too).

Good for him for being so generous with HIS money. If it came from our tax payers dollars, that would be wrong and their should be an outrage. So, how can ANYONE be angry or disapprove of his generosity?

Having worked part time during college but unable to cover all cost of living plus tuition, I had to take a student loan to get by. Although I was able to pay off my loan after graduation, I applaud this man's generosity to these graduates, especially with a positive message going forward. THIS is how it should work, instead of the goverment spending tax dollars to help specific groups of people while other groups suffer because they are unable to get government assistance for various reasons.

No one wants to come clean on this issue.

The REAL problem is that a black billionaire did this for an all men’s HBCU. If he’d paid off the debt for a grad class at Notre Dame or LSU, there’d be no complaints. Black kids have no right to a life altering financial gift that wasn’t offered to white kids. That’s what has folks so salty.

Absolutely right. Kudos to this man!

Only in your racist mind.

Almost every post here thinks what this man did was a good thing. Only fault I see is he should have passed it out equally but it's his money.
Much better this way than giving it to the Govt for them to distribute in their wasteful bloated methods as Socialists would prefer.

He's a good man.

Passed it out equally? He SHOULD have passed it out equally? What does that even mean? It's his money. He can pass it out however he sees fit, to whomever he wants to.
