Dear Mr. President:
As leading American footwear companies, brands and retailers, with hundreds of thousands of employees across
the U.S., we write to ask that you immediately remove footwear from the most recent Section 301 list published
by the United States Trade Representative on May 13, 2019. The proposed additional tariff of 25 percent on
footwear would be catastrophic for our consumers, our companies, and the American economy as a whole.

Finally return Shoe Factories to the United States......
O.K. So they'll cost $200 bucks for a cheap pair that will last 5 years instead of 5 months.
I'll take the risk of paying for the employment and feeding thousands upon thousands of
Americans rather than our over seas competitors.

Haaar! Sure you'll take the risk. Where were you and millions of other Americans when Sam Walton was busily becoming a billionaire by catering to American's demanding cheaper stuff?
Putin today pledged to supply China with all the soybeans and poultry they need. Is Trump deliberately hurting US farmers to strengthen Putin's influence (and income) in China? It certainly seems like it.

You keep shoes for 5 years? Nowadays people throw their $700 smartphones after 2 years.
Also "made-in-China does not last long" is just a saying, not always true.
Not to mention few if any young Americans want to work in shoe factories, and the only solution is probably to hire immigrants.
The US if fighting back in a trade war that has up until recently been one-sided.
This isn't even a partisan concept, this has been a long-term problem recognized for ages by every prior administration with regards to currency manipulation, patent theft, copywrite violation etc. etc. etc.
I'm not a Trump fan, nor am I even certain he's dealing with this the best way but the latest round is in response to China trying to pull a fast one by backing out of points that were already agreed upon.
Here you go in case you've been in a coma the last 20 years....
