I'll have to look into volcanic activity in Greenland to see if that might be the cause. Iceland had been experiencing increased volcanic activity. No volcanic activity but a cluster of earthquakes in 2012 did create some new hot springs there.
Volcanic activity is responsible for a small amount of Antarctic melting, and surface melting is what is melting Greenland's ice.
Unlike the Arctic, the Antarctic shows neither global warming nor year to year sea ice decline. There is no sign of global warming in this part of the globe. Square kilometers of sea ice in Antarctica has been setting new record highs, and with that there is more ice to melt. We would see the potential for more ice melting, since the surface area of sea ice has increased.
