Kind of hard to share common values when we do not live in "common" communities. When one group moves in....the other group moves out or is forced out due to economics.
I agree. this is happening where I live. A very progressive city. my neighborhood is mostly very progressive, middle class whites and the city's school administration is seriously considering busing white students in the neighborhood from the academically high performing (based on academic achievement tests), overwhelmingly white school to an economically poorer, academically inferior (based on academic achievement tests), 90% Spanish speaking school in another neighborhood to provide educational "equity". many progressive, white parents are vehemently against this proposal.
it is amusing to me to see the progressive, white parents very upset about the above. they are gearing up for a big fight against this proposal, which they will surely lose. these parents voted heavily and consistently for "diversity" and "equity" in our city....and gave it great lip service....until these hypocrites found out their children will be required, by the government they voted for, to personally participate in diversity and equity.
will busing hundreds of white kids increase diversity in the currently 90% Spanish speaking school? Sure. Will busing in white kids create equity? if equity means an equal education for all the students in the school, sure. If diversity and equity are the goals of education, they will be accomplished. I think academic achievement should be the primary goal of public education, but I'm not a progressive and my position is old fashioned.

Anything that is not diversity is racist, sexist, and warms the planet by 10 degrees. I learned this in my mandatory diversity training at work.
Which means that you took that training in bad faith. Why am I not surprised at that coming from you?
