Orientation is not an issue. Priests take a vow of life long celibacy.

How exactly would a church determine gay seminarians? Ask then how many Barbara Streisand CDs they own?

Pedophile priests are the source. I am sure many are gay. I am sure many are straight. But we can identify danger, either way, from the distinctive collar, as RCC priests per studies, both internal and external, have shown a rang of 6-10% committing acts of pedophilia. That is 3-5x the national 2% rate.

So if you want your kids safe, just avoid the 6-10% group entirely and your odds of keeping them safe rose sharply.

The Catholic Church trying to deflect its guilt by blaming homosexuality speaks volumes.

Because a quick google search shows dozens and dozens of cases with victims younger than 15.

2. The vast majority of abusers do not identify as homosexual. But you know what trait all the priests shared? They were men who were forced to be celibate.
Actually it defines those attracted to post puberty adolescents. If they were forced to be celibate there would be no scandal. Basically they are gay men having sex with individuals they have authority over.

I see few of these cases involving female adolescents.

It’s a gay problem within the Catholic Church.

It's not a "gay problem". smh

My husband was partially raised Catholic and says the only reason boys tend to be victimized more is because they're the ones who are allowed to be alone with the priests.

Correct. There have been no roles making females accessible to priests throughout most of RCC history.

I am delighted female victims were spared from these predators.

I am even more delighted there are so fewer parishes around now, vs 25 years ago, increasing the odds todays children with be spared the horrors prior generations suffered through.

Pff if the people of the cloth are so moral then why do they help those who raped young men get away with it? The church hasn't done dick for the rape victims. I grew up Catholic but gave up on the church because they always condemned sinners unless it was them who sinned. Then they asked for forgiveness and penance.

I also grew up Catholic and graduated from a Jesuit University, and like mkpunk, I have seen the light and will never set foot in a RCC institution again. I consider what they did "crimes against humanity".

Exactly, just like heterosexual men make do with what is available when they are put in prison.
