Why build your house on a public beach funded by the taxpayers and then demand they must not use it? Of course wealthy elites like Huckabee can get a judge to quietly do what they want.
They also lobbied the state legislature and donated money to candidates who offered to oppose public use of the beach.
Typical Republican. Pretend to care about the masses as long as the King stays in his castle.
I hate this guy but it appears as if the issue was with the judge who simply gave him public beach property for $400. Once that ruling was made it's his beach.
$400 to own a public beach? Huckabee can enjoy his private hurricane damage also.
I remember 20 years ago Jim Belushi got in the news for aggressively chasing people off his beach in the Hamptons. It came down to having to allow people to walk as far as the tide as the law dictates. Then a few years back Malibu owners were waging a war to block access to their beaches by restricting access to public right of ways. You have to love the entitled. What Huckabee and his rich neighbors did was absolutely wrong, although the idiot judge( and there's no shortage of them) screwed the people over making his decision.
But if they think that global warming will swallow up their properties in a few decades, why do they keep paying ridiculous prices to live there?

It was never a public beach... the beach has always been titled to the lot that Huckabee bought.
Private beaches are very rare in Florida and I seriously doubt that Huckabee or those other homeowners had any claim whatsoever to the public beach. What Huckabee did was nothing more than a land grab at the expense of the true owners of the beach: The Florida people.
Nobody should be able to own any part of the beach, that’s like wanting to own part of the ocean. Beaches should belong to everyone!
