The question is based on "we should do anything to sell to China" mentality.

Once again, it's only 3% of our agricultural production.

Who said "we should do anything to sell to China"?

The question is whether we should engage in self-defeating tariffs that will cause a current, large market for American exports to evaporate while increasing the costs borne by US consumers and taxpayers while simultaneously increasing Chinese soft power in our own back yard.

A trade war with China hurts China much more than us.
We have far, far, far more to lose than China. If the people of China get upset, their leadership doesn't care. Not so here.

The stock market falls and politicians here start losing their jobs by the boatload. In China they just wait out the change.

Radical Right keyboard warriors here would call this a patriotic sacrifice.

That's like saying Macy's is more important to consumers than consumers are to Macy's.

BTW, how are Macy's custoners doing as Macy's stores continue closing? Are they unable to buy clothes and housewares?

You don't seem to understand the relationship between supplier and consumer.

This isn't about that. You can address what I said or talk about Macy's. The markets fall and we have major political upheaval. China just waits it out.

We then buy up cheap Chinese Apple phones or whatever it is they call them.

Lol.

Do you believe our government should do everything within its power to ensure military contractors never lose a customer?

If a farmer puts their gambles their future that China will always purchase from them, I don't see how it's anyone's fault but theirs.

Only crony capitalists want government to make sure private companies are given guarantees of profit.

It's so funny how the left haos turned into war hawks who love crony capitalism.

Currently our deal with China is this:

We give our technology and superpower status to China; and we get cheap, poorly made products in return.

Is this a good deal for America?

I’m willing to lose the export market for soybeans. If Big Ag suffers a little, so be it.

Our markets will fall briefly, but they will be better in the long run.

You're short sighted and don't understand how this benefits us or even seem to understand trade deficits.
