Read last year that moving labor intensive production out of China has been one of China's goals they've been working towards for some time.
In any case, Russia wins this round. Brazil will likely benefit as well.
How long the U.S. will subsidize soybean farmers remains to be seen. I guess they could switch to growing corn. Corn subsidies seem to be fairly secure.

The tariffs easily cover the subsidies to farmers and then some. If we hit everything from China with 25% that’s $135 billion (on $540 billion in imports). Farm subsidies could cost at most $20 billion

Will they cover the trillion dollar annual deficits Trump has created prior to the next recession
Thanks to gwb. Trump is basically gwb redux when it comes to incompetent fiscal policy
the recession was due to liberal policies from the 90's
and as far as it goes, since Bush continued most of Clintons policies...and Obama continued most of Bush's policies...you might as well call bush, Clinton 2.0 and Obama, Clinton 3.0
Trump is destroying the farmer's businesses exactly as he bankrupted so many of his own just so he can have a talking point. You voted for this lying incompetent scum...you have it coming.

Great. So the since American consumer ends up bearing the cost of the tariffs, they will end up paying an extra $135 billion out of pocket. Seems like a win to me, but only if you believe that flushing the money of American consumers down the toilet is a "win".
