As predicted, Mitch no longer has any objection to election year nominees when his party in in the WH.

Well, good. And I'd expect nothing else. For the record, filling a vacancy in 2020 is not the same as filling a vacancy in 2016. The rational for 2016 was to leave the seat open for the new president to fill. We knew we'd have a new president as Barack was term limited. The same is not the case in 2020, where we have the incumbent running for reelection.

Not true. McConnell said "Let's let the American people decide." It had nothing to do with whether the President was termed out or not.

You cannot separate what you wrote from the fact that there would be a new president who would fill the vacancy. That is not guaranteed to be the case in 2020 for the reasons I stated. I stand by my post.
