Ellison is not the head of a party. He ran and lost for chair. He was appointed vice-chair.
Would I have voted for Ellison for Chair? No. Would I have named him Vice-Chair? No.
I have and always have had differences with some of the extreme left, especially the anti-democratic left. But I watch them and disagree with them where necessary and separate from them, because I want the Democratic and democratic agenda to succeed. Which is different than from those that want those agendas to fail and for other agendas to succeed.
One habit Loudon has is to label many people Marxists. Some are. Some were 20-70 years ago.
Some worked in organizations at some point in their life that had Marxists or former Marxists as workers or members. Are you what the most radical person of your company or community or political organization or church is?
In some cases it is easy to see how far his label is his opinion, his stretch. Unless you track down as much information as he shares or more, it is hard to say how many of his other examples are Marxists today and how many are plotting overthrow vs seeking social improvement according to their eyes. One way is to see if they say they are. This is not the only test and will not serve as a sufficient test but very few actually self-describe as Marxists. So you can take their word, Loudon's or make your own judgment.
With regards to Loudon's claims of Marxist influences on Obama, I've seen one short article where his best examples are 4 people. One guy was a American communist in the 30s-early 50s and after that he wouldn't say and the government pretty much stopped wondering and caring. His biggest influences on Obama, according to what I see from Loudon in this article, was to use less drugs and go to college. This from a guy who apparent smoked weed with one of Obama's grandfathers. It may be interesting to know. I don't think it mattered much out of the dozen, hundreds, thousands of people he came in contact with. It sure appears that his Harvard classmates who become corporate lawyers and Wall Street capitalists, etc. had a lot more influence on him.
This is an orchestrated, communist assault on America, to destroy America’s borders, to create confusion in America, to overwhelm the system politically
Channeling McCarthy, I see. Why not go further back and call them Jacobin (the 19th Century rough equivalent of communist). While we're being old school here...
NEWSFLASH: People who appeal to love of country and "hearty wholesome virtues that sustain our land" are not proof of credibility. Despite what you may think, "hearty, wholesome, honest, virtuous people" (or those posing as such) can be just as big a cons, manipulators, and fake news spreaders as anyone else. And yes, they WOULD use outright dishonesty and scary sensationalism to bolster support for their position (See McCarthy, Southern Segregationists, the 19th Century Know-Nothings, and as of late the alt-right for examples).
Ok I am looking at the Ellison link now. After it appears to have tripped a malware-software extortion attempt. Hey that it is not cool.
So case against Elison can be many things but what specifically is the case that he is or was a Marxist or a socialist or a communist? Or a dangerous or bad person?
That he appeared on some stages with other radicals, black nationalists, gang members who had some issue in common doesn't make him a Marxist. That some other radicals raised money for him doesn't make him any of these these. That he wrote a few articles defending Farrakan when in his early 20s makes him... an outspoken law student. Defend the Muslin Brotherhood? I'll look into that. That isn't where I'd put my time. But... it is a pretty free country.
Taliban Rightwingers love to scare about communism, while they let the Republican Party sell US interests to multinational corporations and the 0.1% of Americans.
40 years of Reaganism has left the middle class of the US in shambles... all because of capitalism.
And the raving angry white people rave on, their anger directed at the evil boogeyman story they bought hook line and sinker.
Really, my main concern is the spread of collectivist ideas. Even if it’s not strict communism, you still have a lot of people pushing the idea that individual rights are less important than “society as a whole”, and that’s where it gets scary.
The military is a collectivist idea. I suppose you oppose the military and servicemen then since they are putting aside their individuality for the benefit of society as a whole.
