Actually science is increasingly on the mayor's side here. There is an emerging field of science called "climate attribution" that uses rigorous analysis to determine to what extent, if any, is extreme weather caused or worsened by climate change. Climate Attribution

Meanwhile, in Japan, record high temperatures are shattering records... 103 F in Tokyo in May is not normal.
Two Die, 600 Taken to Hospital for Heat Stroke in Japan

We are in the early stages of a climate crisis. Is that climate alarmism? No, not all. The rapidly increasing extreme weather events worldwide speak for themselves.

Mayors and politicians in general are known for their climate expertise

Couldn't agree more.

These people who claim every natural disaster is due to climate change are no better than people who deny climate change.

It's understandable why some people are slow to accept climate change. It's an abstract concept.
But when it slaps you hard in the face, you better pay attention.
Very scientific analysis...

I am confused.

Are we basing climate change/global warming on the weather or not?

Yes, climate change has been occurring for millions of years...anyone that denies that is crazy.

Charleston SC area.

We've had five days of over 100 degree weather and desperately need rain.

Five days of record setting heat.

Climate has never changed as rapidly as it is now.

Cold winter in NY and a lot of the US? Scientists call it the "hot Arctic cold continent" effect. Rapidly disappearing sea ice and heat waves 30 to 40 degrees above normal at the poles weaken the jet stream, making it wander, allowing cold polar air to sag south over Canada and much of the U.S.

This is a part of the problem in getting people to make changes. A flood proves nothing. Calling people names, solves nothing.

During 2007 it rained over 60 inches in central Oklahoma, setting an all time record high annual amount not exceeded since. Was that climate change or weather change?
