Walls alone will not stop illegal immigration by itself. It has to be part of guards, cameras etc. The true solution is congress changing the laws and deporting these illegals.
Who said walls alone will work? They are however very effective in deterring illegal entry and should be big part of border security. The laws that need changing are our asylum laws. It's BS that these "migrants" can jump our border illegally and claim asylum afterwards. Most of them are bogus claims. No one should be able to enter our country unless it's through the actual legal immigration process. We need to stop only deporting convicted criminals also. Every illegal who makes themselves known should be deported. No exceptions!
Threads like this are proof the cons are a bunch of bigots. They don't like the little brown people, so they complain that anybody who doesn't mind them are "traitors."
120 years ago lots of people were complaining that the huge masses of poor immigrants from eastern and southern Europe were overwhelming the US. Or has everyone forgotten the inscription on the Statue of Liberty?
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Like many Americans, I have ancestry that goes back to colonial Pennsylvania, 17th century Virginia and North Carolina ... two ancestors who fought in the revolution. I am extremely proud of that.
I also have native American ancestry, so that goes back what ... 15 thousand or so years to Asia?
I also have ancestry that came through the very same Golden Door, and saw the Statue of Liberty for themselves when it was still rather new. I am extremely proud of that too.
This land was our destiny, and the story is not over yet. As much as I dislike Ronald Reagan I must give him credit for a beautiful sentiment that mirrors my own:
"Through this Golden Door, under the gaze of that Mother of Exiles, has come millions of men and women, who first stepped foot on American soil right there, on Ellis Island, so close to the Statue of Liberty.
These families came here to work. They came to build. Others came to America in different ways, from other lands, under different, and often harrowing conditions, but this place symbolizes what they all managed to build, no matter where they came from or how they came or how much they suffered.
They helped to build that magnificent city across the river. They spread across the land building other cities and towns and incredibly productive farms.
They came to make America work. They didn’t ask what this country could do for them but what they could do to make this, this refuge the greatest home of freedom in history.
They brought with them courage, ambition and the values of family, neighborhood, work, peace and freedom. We all came from different lands but we shared the same values, the same dream."
Ronald Reagan
While each new group came in the ones who came before were filled with consternation, but we turned out fine. We are a great people.

Just as long as they come here legally and in reasonable numbers that fit what we need today not yesterday, most people don't have a problem with that nor do I.
Wow the sky is falling ! Run fir da hills! Never seen so much fear - pfft. Creator of the crisis is your master.
How come your side of the ideological divide can never come up with a number of how many unskilled and uneducated illegals are too many?
Is it 1, 5, 20, 200 million?
The only reason others from around the world are not flooding in is because they do not have a land bridge and countries willing to let them walk through. Otherwise we could easily have more illegals than our current population of American citizens.
So is 330 million too many?
If so, what number would cause you to be alarmed and say enough?
Soooooo tired of this whiny, bigoted, xenophobic, ignorant bitching about immigration. I could care less about increasing democratic votes. I want what's best for America, and that means MORE immigration! Immigrants are what built this country, and immigrants are what will keep it vital. My solution to illegal immigration is to make it easier for people to immigrate legally.
If you're so worried about overpopulation of the US, my idea is to round up a few million right-wing red-necks and ship them off to Guatemala, to make room for some decent folks who want to come here and build a good life. Maybe we could send Trump down there with them, to be their President-for -life.
To country down the road. Do you think we will be annexed by Mexico?
I think some places along the border look like they already have been. And, no I'm not necessarily talking about the people either. Visit, and check out the businesses and their practices, etc..
