People hated Christie but IMHO history books will mention that the pension reforms he pushed will save many billions of dollars. IL seems to be doubling down on huge pensions and is even in the state constitution.
Pension protections were added to the Illinois state Constitution nearly 50 years ago, in 1970.

I too appreciated Christie. The types of reforms he was able to muscle through were deemed unconstitutional by the Illinois Supreme Court.

Oh, horseshi$. The wealthy are going to get screwed the most in Illinois. The next income tax is not a progressive brackets like California. If you make over $750k, you will pay the new 7.99% rate on 100% of your income. I bet not one person will make over $750k in 2020. Plus, I am sure they will backdate it like they did in 2016 so people can't move income forward or backwards. Also, they already raised the state income tax rate 67% on everyone except higher earners where it was raised 100%.

What is wrong with that?

What's wrong is that this money like all other monies that the IL. democrats get their hands on never goes to the intended purpose. It's joke that they will spend it the way they promised. I'll be surprised if even 50% is spent on infrastructure.

If you want an explanation of modern white supremacy, the liberals are the guiltiest bunch that deserves more scrutiny instead of the conservatives they project their bigotry onto. These people only wish to see the proliferation of other wealthy whites around them, those that are left out are subjugated to the systems in place to allow proliferation of impoverished people of color. What term would you call it? Innocent casualties? Being the only whites around and being inherently more privileged than everyone around them, what other way would you describe it besides white supremacy? These are people who prefer to travel to the 3rd world for that social fix of being the "better" in a land where everyone else isn't as privileged.

Illinois' gas tax is still less than Indiana and Michigan.

I have a few friends that live in Chicago & surrounding area, I only live 1 1/2 hours away....what is funny is NEVER have I heard anything negative about where they live. The only time I see people harping about IL is on this forum.......I have an idea. Maybe you should actually live & experience a place instead of pounding on your keyboard on some random forum claiming that you know more than any of the people living there. It's why I roll my eyes & NEVER take any of the posts by the usual suspects on here seriously.
Like I said, I lived there for 9 years and have relatives living there now, you apparently have neither - it looks like you who is claiming that you know more than any of the people living there.

Try again, CA tax may be progressive but it goes up very very fast and more than you might think
For single
19k is 4%
30k is 6%
42K is 8%
53k is 9.3%
goes up from there until hit 13.3% at 1M single and 1.08M if married
If married, just double the amounts in the lower brackets

CA need only $42k to hit 8% more than Il at 750k (in CA would be at 12.3%) and $53k to hit 9.3%, more than NJ at 500k (in CA would be at 11.3%)

You don't need to make a lot to get into a high tax bracket in CA. I paid over 50k one year to CA when I sold a property, don't think that didn't hurt.
