There is a Netflix miniseries called "When They See Us" that just recently released which is why it's being talked about.

Will note there is a movie about the Central Park 5 which is why it is in the news today. Fox doesn't like to put on much of any stories that show the negative racial atmosphere of this country.

Also that in regards to the weird posters, there was no evidence even back then that they did it. Also that that case and Trump's comment about it (he didn't just take out those ads and state that they should be executed and STILL won't admit that they were innocent) is the main reason why many black people see him as a racist. I remember this case and I was a kid and I knew of his involvement in the narrative and atmosphere of the era and how he fed a frenzy that got children imprisoned for a crime they did not commit. He basically advocated a lynch mob of black/brown children and that is not something that black Americans who were/are aware could ignore.

I'll also note that one of the boys did not have a taped confession (IMO his mother was the only parent who had some sense about her as she stopped them from interviewing her son and did not allow them to press him into a confession on tape) but yet he was still imprisoned because the other kids were fed his name and mentioned it in their confessions.

IMO the "justice" officials, including cops, DA, prosecutor, and judges should all be punished for what they allowed to happen and in many cases orchestrated to occur. Trump was a participant based on his own bias and prejudice. The idea that Reyes couldn't attack/rape that woman by himself, or that the kids were somehow still involved is some BS considering that Reyes is a serial rapist and a murderer and if they had not focused on these kids so hard back then and expanded their investigation, LE in NYC could have potentially identified him and saved women from being raped and another murdered by Reyes, crimes that occurred after the Central Park 5 case.

I think you need to Google Ted Bundy along the names a a few mainstream media outlets to see just how many articles the release of that documentary generated. lol

The documentary was released in 2012...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Central_Park_Five

Oh-you mean the new one trying to exploit the issue.

Just a little reminder for those that have forgotten the case:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Park_jogger_case

Quote:
Trisha Meili was going for a run in Central Park shortly before 9 p.m.[6][14][10] While jogging in the park, she was knocked down, dragged or chased nearly 300 feet (91 m), and violently assaulted.[4] She was raped and almost beaten to death.[15] About four hours later at 1:30 a.m., she was found naked, gagged, tied up, and covered in mud and blood. Meili was discovered in a shallow ravine in a wooded area of the park about 300 feet north of a path called the 102nd Street Crossing.[4][15][11][16] The first policeman who saw her said: "She was beaten as badly as anybody I've ever seen beaten. She looked like she was tortured."[17]

She was comatose for 12 days.[18] She suffered severe hypothermia, severe brain damage, Class 4 (the most severe) hemorrhagic shock, loss of 75–80 percent of her blood, and internal bleeding.[19][20][16][18][21] Her skull had been fractured so badly that her left eye was dislodged from its socket, which in turn was fractured in 21 places, and she suffered as well from facial fractures.[19][20][12]

The initial medical prognosis was that Meili would succumb to her injuries and die.[19] She was given last rites.[20] The police initially listed the attack as a probable homicide.[22] At best, doctors thought that she would remain in a permanent coma due to her injuries. She came out of her coma 12 days after her attack, and spent seven weeks in Metropolitan Hospital in East Harlem. When she initially emerged from her coma, she was unable to talk, read, or walk.[20][15] In early June, she was transferred to Gaylord Hospital, a long-term acute care center in Wallingford, Connecticut, where she spent six months in rehabilitation.[19][23][18] She was first able to walk again in mid-July.[24] She returned to work eight months after the attack.[25] Remarkably, she largely recovered, with some lingering disabilities related to balance and loss of vision. As a result of the severe trauma, she had no memory of the attack or of any events up to an hour before the assault, nor of the six weeks following the attack.[24]

The crime was unique in the level of public outrage it provoked. New York Governor Mario Cuomo told the New York Post: "This is the ultimate shriek of alarm."[26]

Why not, if there is ongoing fall out as a result?

It's odd, when Ken Burns released his Civil War series, there were all sorts of headlines around that.
Should that have been considered past its sell by date?

How about any other documentaries released in the last few years?
How far back should be considered relevant for these things to be talked about?

Because it's about wronged black males, that's why they're crying & whining about it.

Goes without saying, really.

Compare the "headlines" around this to those of this last season of "Game of Thrones."

Complaints from these usual suspects?

Of course not.

Nah, we just know how to move on...

For all we care, y'all can debate the Central Park 5 and 2016 election elections until the world ends in 11-1/2 years!

Nope, that's exactly what it is. Otherwise, you'd be crying & whining about ANY series or documentary that goes over past events. But you're not, just this one. So transparent.
