That's ridiculous. Americans lost their rights and freedoms, but it didn't have a damn thing to do with preferring security over freedom. It was entirely a matter of being disorganized and misdirected by the bad guys.

Oh I would bet they have the ability to look inside private homes/ structures, probably have had this ability for a long time.

The general public is only privy to a very small percentage of what US spying and reconnaissance agencies are truly capable of.

I think most of us would probably be astounded if we found out what their capabilities were today!!

This is all right NOW.
... and that's just Google Maps that any dope can access. You're dreaming if you don't think an intelligence community bird can't get three or four times closer, IR though the roof and walls and do in real time.

Note you do not own the air above your property. That was settled years ago. Helicopters routinely operate below 100 feet. They are not trespassing.

.And none of that is going to be effective against the air mappers. Here they are done by airplanes. Soon it will be by drones at 100 feet or so. Likely sharp enough to show people in a pool.

And there is no fourth amendment involved. The photographer is a private company not the government.
If you own a drone and use it to spy into someone's back yard that will get you into trouble. It should be no different for a commercial venture.

Flying over will still be considered OK. It's the filming that will be the problem depending on the quality of what is being filmed.

That was my point when I made that post... So there's already precedent, and there will be no stopping their rolling out better tools, like you mention.

This is nothing new. About 20 years ago, I worked with a man who was formerly in Naval Intelligence and he worked specifically in the area of satellite spying. He told me they had the ability to look down into a place like Times Square NYC, and zoom in and actually be able to see the Camel on a pack of cigarettes a man sitting there was holding. He said no place is safe from being viewed from those satellites.

And that was 20 years ago, can you imagine the technology today ?

Again the air above roof top heights is public property in many if not all jurisdictions. The exact height will likely vary but it will not be very high. Photography of private property from public space is legal. everywhere.

Jamming a drone is likely criminal anywhere. And in of the better drones it is not going to work. The authorities may well be able to create beam weapons that can actually overpower the circuits in a drone but that is heavy weapons grade stuff.

Best one I have seen was a European operations that was training raptors to take down small drones.

This is all right NOW.

And that's just what's available to the general public.

Another creepy thing is how you can look up almost any house that been sold on an MLS realtor site and see the interior layout even years after it's been taken off the market.
