Corporations are like Lemmings, and have a herd mentality. I've seen it personally. The current "Obsession Du Jour" is Corporate Virtue Signaling. As most corporations are now run largely by Democrat supporting Leftist Progressives, they incorporate a leftist message in much of their advertising.
They use WOMAN, MINORITIES, GAY/LESBIANS, the overweight, etc to make themselves look sympathetic to these groups. It isn't just these groups they want to sell their products, but the many liberal/progressives who get their jollies also from Virtue Signaling to make themselves FEEL enlightened, evolved, and oh so smarter than everyone else. It's disgusting.
I don't think much of it unless its particularly egregious. I use plenty of businesses that are not completely in line with my political views. Just last night I hit Chic fil A. I still buy Under Armour shirts. And I have ragingly conservative friends who still shop Target, Starbucks, and Panera. Even a lot of charities (like Susan G Komen) end up having political bents that are not always apparent.
You either decide the stances do not affect your opinion or you move to another vender. A couple of years ago I did just that to New Balance and Jimmy Johns. Other businesses I simply accept that if I like their beliefs leading them to treat their employees well and sponsor teeball, I have to also accept that they'll also be giving money to groups I do not personally support. It has not caused me any great trouble or turmoil.
I'm just fed up with being panhandled at retail transactions.
Yes. It's EVERYWHERE.
Here's my day yesterday: Went to MACYs, and asked to give money to help gay people. Then went to lunch, and there was a line above the tip line to donate to something-or-other. Then to the grocery store where I was asked to give to support soldiers. (At least that's not a controversial lefty issue.) Then outside the grocery, some lowlife asked me for money because his car ran out of gas. (Yeah, right.) And, last stop, to the pet store, where I was asked for another donation (to homeless animals, so again, at least it's not for a social lefty cause). And then, at the corner of the parking lot, a homeless guy (there's a homeless shelter nearby, to which I donate) going up to cars at the stop sign, asking for money.
It just never ends. We have entered a new era of society where everyone has their hand out, constantly.
^^^^^^Chik Fil A isn't using the owner's personal, private beliefs in advertising, or to sell their products in any way, shape or form. POOR ANALOGY mrpeatie.
And we are bombarded with it from Education, the Media, Democrats, much of Government and CORPORATIONS. It is time to fight back to the Indoctrination and Brainwashing in which the weak minded are vulnerable
I will admit this type of thing gets on my nerves as well. I don't care if they jar on the counter or even if a question pops up on the credit card machine, but don't ask me if I want to give a dollar for this or that group. Unlike some posters, I don't see this as a left or right thing.
