One solution is to wall off the ghetto, sterilize the women, and let them kill each other off.
I had a college sociology class a couple years ago. I know how most people feel about those. But the class attributed the violence to the same things I posted. It's the culture. The class agreed that unless the people want to change and it does not seem that they want to, it will stay like it is. No amount of money thrown at the problem will fix it. But cutting off what they already get will just make it worse. Hungry people will support the gangs more, because they blame the system. So unless, someone, can find a solution to change the culture, the shooting will continue forever.
Children raised in a gang/guns/drugs environment, just pass it on to their kids.

LOL...its the 'unregulation' that is fueling the gang culture though!!! As long as there are tough laws against drugs/ guns, there will always be a 'criminal element' ready to meet demand, the gang culture can ONLY thrive when there is no regulation.

Gangs are criminals. Pass all the laws (regulations) that you want. Just more for them to ignore. Eliminate the laws and there will still be gangs fighting over turf. Legalize the drugs and they will still kill over who gets to sell the legal ones. You have to find a way to change the culture and no one has figured any way to do that.
My favorite excuse for Chicago gun violence is guns are easy to buy in Indiana. Well why doesn't Indiana and everywhere else where guns are easy to buy, have Chicagos problems?
I grew up in IL and lived in Chicago for a while.
That is nothing but a cheap political excuse they've been using for years.
They blame guns, they blame the rest of the state (and Indiana etc.) while the rest of the state has a gun violence rate 1/5th of theirs.
The REAL issue is that the city doesn't want to spend the large amounts of $$$ to fix those problems and frankly, gang killings just makes it less work for them as long as the shootings occur in the bad neighborhoods to gang members (mostly) it's their version of "self-policing".

I'm pro-legalization of a lot of drugs, but not all.
Let me pose a hard question I asked a friend of mine who is an actual defense lawyer that has had many clients they've defended against drug charges either minor stuff up to higher level dealer.
If you have someone with no real-world skills making 100k a year or whatever selling drugs etc. and you legalize the drugs. Do you think they'll go get a job at McDonalds or wherever even if it paid 30k a year?
My position is that many would remain in the lifestyle but would migrate to other illegal activity. I agree it would decrease but I think that the idea that it would be anywhere near fully commensurate with the drug trade is false.

There is no way to do that. The government can lock up gang members. The government can even criminalize gang membership. However, it has never been able to solve the cultural problems behind gangs forming. The question is how to stop gangs from forming. That, no one has been able to solve. Classifying them as terrorist organizations won't stop the problem either.

That is what I am saying. There is no way to solve the killings.

Wall them in, sterilize the women. They kill each other off with no replacements being made. Problem solved.

I just did.
