Pushing. Like in others threads here last money PUSHING for more nukes to solve our problems. Look them up if you like.
As we said in the 1980's, there is no need to poison 100's of future generations in order to run your TV. We can do it in simpler, better and less centralized and capital intensive manners.
Every Americans should be cheering this...but I suppose some only come around once the job is finished. You didn't build that.
There will be plenty of back up gas generation but of course making power with solar and wind is a great thing.
I believe solar potential is off the charts in the future.
Nonsense. Lack of storage just means that solar is generally only available during the daytime when it is sunny, and wind when it is windy. Outside of those conditions other methods of generation are needed,
The issue is a large part of your bill is the capital investment in "other methods", the less they run the more costly it becomes per kWh. Since they are required for on demand power you can never remove the cost for that capital investment.
Just to add any storage method that is feasible for renewable could be applied as buffer for conventional generation making them even cheaper. The plants can be run at capacity reducing the number of plants required. Unlike solar or wind this would only require a small amount of storage.
Absolutely false. What talk radio show told you that? Fact is Germany is getting a huge chunk of solar energy and they are cloudy all the time. Location doesn't matter.
Germany can provide most if not all of their demand with renewable energy under the right weather conditions, they also pay about 35cents per kWh. This is 3X the US average.
That's quite amazing and I am excited to be a part of it. Coal generation down for about 35% a few years back to 21% and it will continue to fall. Renewables growing by the equiv. of a couple nuke plants per year...and, lets face it, after watching Chernobyl there are probably few Americans pimping for more nukes (ain't gonna happen anyway.
Good News.
I am not sure watching Chernobyl wuld make anyone want more nuclear power stations.
Renewables seem to be a sensible and increasingly cheap option.
Renewable energy will continue to grow despite opposition from the neo-luddite Trump party and their adherents. Read the posts from these neo-luddite rubes. They're all set to go out to start smashing solar panels.
These people are the descendants of those that opposed the automobile because it would damage the horse and carriage business and those that lamented the passing of the whale oil business
The paradigm is shifting again.
Some are ready for the future. Others are cowering under their blankets.
And People will continue to build Gas fired power plants as long as it does....There are 4 new plants going in
that I'll consult/project manage for, My future is so bright I have to wear shades!
Nah, Germany has already pretty much proven wind and solar are a pipe dream.
Our vastly over-built wind and solar farms will soon lie abandoned and forgotten without a grid-scale storage solution.
Only reason the Krauts have been even nominally successful with their renewable s is because they are riding Frances Nukers for grid stability............
As a reminder to the OP, ONLY 17% of Americas electrical energy comes from renewable sources with 7-8% of that Hydro
There is so much disinformation about renewable's put out there by fossil fuels and other special interests telling American's "no you can't", but you just have to look at other countries implementing these technologies on a wide scale and being extremely successful to realize it's all a bunch of BS.
Not to mention the misinformation put out by the renewable concerns and their pals in govt employ. Get your hands out of my pockets.
