That happens whether the price of the sex is free or not.

For crying out loud..legalize prostitution now...every where in the USA. There should be no reason a woman should be outlawed from doing what she wants to do with her body. And there should be no reason a man should not be able to use the services of a provider when he chooses to do so. Its a mutual agreement between two consenting adults. All the while these jack azz cops go around setting up stings and busting massage parlors all over the USA..wasting tax payer dollars and destroying peoples lives over minor BS. Here in Seattle jack azz cops are always setting up stings busting johns and prostitutes. Guess some morally superior (in their own delusional minds) American morons want to live in a land where spitting on the sidewalk will get you ten years in prison. We are a lock up happy society that wrecks countless lives over minor crap. Freedom?? Where? Just throw them in jail..got some pot? Using a prostitute? Throw there azz in jail!!..American morally superior jack azzes scream from the rooftops. No wonder we got more people incarcerated then anywhere else in the world. Legalize all drugs and regulate them. No more BS drug war garbage either.

Yeah, I don't see how illegal prostitution is better to have than legal prostitution. Keeping it illegal keeps it unregulated. What's so desirable about that?

I say do it. What two consenting adults do with their time and money should be their business. Tax it, license it and make sure no one under age or against their will is doing it. And get it off the streets. A win-win.

It's funny because it will never happen.

Oh and yes, I live in NY.

Legal marijuana is dead for now, and you think the eegits in Albany are going to make sex work legal? Think on!

Though on certain people's radar for ages, the big push behind this dumb idea is the huge numbers of illegal, and legal immigrants who are getting busted for sex work. In some cases yes, they are trafficked. But others freely enter into such work of their own accord. Thing is once busted and they have a record with a crime of "moral turpitude" the illegals face deportation, while legal resident aliens can see their chances of becoming citizens squashed.

The other group behind this push are minority gays and trans youth who seem for some reason also represented in prostitution by great numbers. Once arrested results are same; a rap sheet with a moral turpitude crime(s).

Assuming prostitution is made legal...

There is another debate on whether or not it should be regulated..... even among the groups that support legalization are divided on this.

Something to ponder....

People don't have to ask for permission (regulation) to have sex with anyone they choose. Why should that be any different once money is involved.

Also... as seen in some countries when it is too regulated, it can also perpetuate other bad elements.

Examples:

In some areas, you can only work in a house/location approved for sex work. Well... control the location either through corruption or criminal enterprises, you control access to market. This sparks criminal activities around pimping and trafficking.

In some areas, you can only work if licensed. Well.. the prostitutes greatest asset is their anonymity. That needs to protected at all costs; it protects family, individual, and access to future jobs. If licensure means a risk of identity being exposed, prostitutes would rather work underground... pushing it towards the criminal elements.

What about those who are not consenting?

What about the sex slaves who are pimped?

Is that a win-win? As a libertarian, I believe sin laws are a really bad idea.

On the other hand, it has to be done like they do in NV and Germany. There have to be red light districts so the trade can be managed and regulated properly, laws to protect the health of everyone concerned.

The authorities/politicians have to use the windfall in revenue to put away rat bastard sex slavers and child traffickers.

The US is the biggest customer of child sex in the world. SICK!

Note... Legalization doesn't mean pimping and pandering is also legal. I'd be ok with just decriminalization as the first step....

I would also support legalization of the sale side and leaving it up to the manucipalities to decide if buying sex is a criminal offense. Some countries have done this as an initial compromise.
Pimps rely on prostitution laws being in place!! If the industry was legalized and regulated, they would be cut out of the picture entirely.

Basically, if you support tough laws against prostitution and aggressive enforcement...the pimps and human traffickers thank you for your support, they share the same opinion.

We sell ourselves for cash every day. It's called working. It's humorous that people who don't work in the sex trade fail to see the connection. Everyone who has a job sells themselves for money. Whether it's their vaginas, their physical labor, their ideas, or their specific skill set makes no difference. It's all the same: selling themselves for money.

A big reason those things are going on now is its underground and difficult to stop.

Of course there has to be a red light district where its allowed and not allowed on the street.

There is also a connection between sex trafficking, human trafficking and illegal drug sales. A friend of mine's brother got convicted of running alien's to a drop house in his taxi. He would pick them up near the Mexican border and take them up to Phoenix. Because he drove a taxi he was less likely to get popped since he could just say he had no idea they were illegal which happened a few times and he was not arrested. But he got greedy and had one guy hiding in the trunk when he got pulled over. Hard to justify that. Anyways after he got out of prison we 3 were talking and he was saying these drop houses also sold drugs and had prostitutes working out of them. I am sure these women were forced into it. They would change locations often and these places were essentially run by the cartel connected individuals.
