Cora Smith who travels for months at a time and blogs about the long vacations for a living claims that she is conflicted on the inside. She will not mention the dangers of the societies and cultural problems, because that would upset people. People only want to hear the positives of foreign lands so she lies by ignoring how often crimes against women happen and are accepted culturally as to not upset readers. She worries that she puts other unsuspecting people at risk.

By not telling about she attacks she encountered in the Dominican Republic, other attacks are getting ignored and the attackers continue their evil. By telling of the attacks she encountered, she risks not being believed by other people and possible inviting more people to attack her. She is damned is she does and damned if she doesn't.
It stifles free thought, you're under constant anxiety over what to say because somehow some stupid snowflake will get bent out of shape because their feelings are so damn special over everyone elses. Wait what is this thread about?
I'm not sure what your point is. All writers, all reporters, all commentators, all editors edit their content. There are people who choose to cover pros/cons, and there people who don't.
Personally, I think that any travelers who depends on Instagram and "influencers" probably deserve what they get.

correct, its about forcing people to change the language o as not to offend anyone. the problem is though that when that happens everyone still gets offended, usually even worse than before.
There are lots of professional conflicts. A travel writer will face some. You are selling travel, countries, specific vendors. Sounds like she faced up to some. Sounds good to me.
