Is it acceptable for government officials to withhold information of national security from a duly elected president?

Animalcrazy is absolutely right. Not sharing intelligence is not the right thing, but it may be the only thing to do when you have an unreliable president who is acting for reasons other than the welfare of the country. When intelligence agencies can't trust the president to be ....intelligent, this is bound to happen. Not ideal, but that is the situation we have.

Whether or not the president is unreliable is up to the voters, congress and cabinet members to decide.

No other people should arbitrarily make that determination.

This thread makes me sad. I was expecting an overwhelming majority regardless of their political associations believe this is unacceptable.

Well, we barely got over 60%.

This country is going down faster than I think.

Some interesting additional info.

Trump signed an order that gave permission for things like this to occur without his authorization. Also, they did notify, but not fully, and kind of buried the info in the daily reports.
