IMO Harris' biggest impediment from being a clear front runner is lingering questions over how she would do in a general election. She has only run in very liberal electorates before: SF, CA and now the democratic primary so she has never had to worry about appealing to moderates. Now that she has some momentum,it would be a good time to try and show off her messaging to people outside the base.

The people in charge of the Democrat Party and the Democrat base do NOT care about Middle America. In fact, they view Middle America as the enemy.

See...there you go advocating for identity politics.

Conservative example number 1.

I’m telling the truth. Republicans are the racial dog whistle masters. I see it all the time right here on CD. Maybe even in a few of your posts.

You’re not an independent. You’re a conservative Republican.

Yep. Sarah Palin has it down cold with her “the Real America” rantings.

She meant white Americans.

Play dumb. But you know what I’m talking about. You and your ilk do it all the time.

You do know that Bronxguyanese is Black, right? Afro-Guyanese American, right? Not every black person likes identity politics.

Both political parties play identity politics very well and dangerously.

So when Trump highlights the statistics on Black unemployment, or Hispanic approvals -- that's not identiy politics?

Come on kids -- that - Democrats play identity politics doesn't fly anymore.

Both political parties do.

If the general election were decided by popular vote, K Harris would be a pretty logical choice. Her chances to win the primary have risen recently but she'll have to sustain that bounce and go further. If Biden collapses, she might gain as much or more than anybody else.

With Democratic chances to win election hinging greatly on Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania it seems like a somewhat less logical choice. Maybe she'll broaden her appeal and carry that future day. Maybe with the right VP.

I'll be reading more but with some reserve til things develop further.

Biden will surely make some better counter about and against her, either in media soon or next debate.

I disagree. They spent just as much time on Hispanic identity politics. Perhaps more. I don't recall any of the candidates speaking in Swahili. No surprise-the Democratic party stopped supporting black Americans decades ago and are now just expecting their rote, unquestioning support. They don't feel the need to pander to them the way they do to illegals.

Kamala got some serious steam going.

Identity-politics is used.....because it works. A left-wing, black woman.....that is probably who is going to be going-up against Trump.

Sucks for them that we don't have a national election, huh?
