But the issue that mobilizes almost every single person in the Chinese community is education. From the protests against the California bill, SCA-5, which would restore race as a factor for college-admission decisions in the state, to the ongoing lawsuit against Harvard University for its “racially conscious” admissions policy, to Zang’s dissent against New York City’s attempt at specialized-high-school reform, Chinese-Americans are vehemently against affirmative action in education.
I have been saying for awhile that something like this was in the air, exactly because of affirmative action, and as a natural consequence of Asian affluence. If the Chinese community flips, and other Asian groups follow, California becomes competitive overnight, and the democrat party, sans ability to cry about racism, has to find a new raison d'etre immediately, or it ceases to exist as a national party.
New York would also become more competitive, though not like Cali.
Final note: though disputed, many exit polls showed Asian Americans leaning much more Republican in recent years in the red tide elections of 2014. So we may have already seen the beginning.
This isn't a question of IF or even WHEN, they already becoming Republican, mainly because they come from a culture of personal accountability and, respect for education.
However, neither side really cares about them since:
1) They aren't numerous.
2) To counteract low numbers, they aren't as rich as Jews.
3) To counteract low numbers, they aren't as violent as Muslims.
This isn't a question of IF or even WHEN, they already becoming Republican, mainly because they come from a culture of personal accountability and, respect for education.

I would like to hear from people who self-describe as Chinese-American, and there is a very likely distinction between first generation immigrants and fifth - sixth (or more) generation native born Americans, so we might as well know that too. The Chinese community within China itself is highly variable, and the Chinese-American community is complex, not prone to generalizations.
Every demographic trends Republican which is why Dems keep importing fresh new liberals.
