It doesn't seem like Libra can do anything that Apple Pay or Venmo can't do. Sure, Libra has a blockchain underlying everything, but I still receive USD instantly on paper using Venmo. The technology is intriguing, but I don't immediately see its purpose.
Not really. Using a Silicon Valley tech giant-controlled currency, with blockchain permanently recording all of your online activity, seems totally insane. We're in for a frightening forfeiture of personal rights if this invades everyday life and commerce. China's social credit system on steroids.
Maxine Watters wants FB to stop work on that Libra currency idea !!!
She must approve it or something. Talk about gov. over reach !!! Sounds like an Al Sharpton shakedown move to get a payoff before it can go forward !!!
“Given the company’s troubled past, I am requesting that Facebook agree to a moratorium on any movement forward on developing a cryptocurrency until Congress and regulators have the opportunity to examine these issues and take action,” Waters said in a statement on Tuesday.
FB and the middle finger to Maxine and congress !!!
Anyone who has ANYTHING to do with Facebook at this point is nuts or too lazy to use email.
Exactly. Facebook is email/youtube/mms for dummies. Dummies who want all their personal information mined and sold.
And Facebook crypto is crypto for dummies. It takes away the only good thing about crypto in that its anonymous. If you tie that to your Facebook account you might as well be using your bank account or credit cards.
