FACEBOOK is launching cryptocurrency next year that will allow people to move money from their smartphone into a digital "wallet".

The currency is known as Libra, which the social network says it has "no special role" in governing and will manage equally with a group of big companies.

Experts have branded the move a dangerous power grab that marks Facebook's "most invasive" form of surveillance yet.

So far, Facebook has enlisted 28 firms, including Spotify and Uber, who each had to invest a minimum of £8million to be a founding member of the Libra Association, an independent not-for-profit membership organisation.

It wants to attract 100 businesses in time for launch, which it is aiming for the first half of 2020.

And of course if you are found guilty of wrongthink or being associated with those who engage in wrongthink you will have your account suspended and your assets frozen.

But hey they're a private company so that wouldn't be tyranny at all would it?

And keep in mind even if what you say now doesn't follow under the current definition of wrongthink, that definition is always changing, and your comments today don't get grandfathered in in the future. Your politically correct comments today could be wrongthink tomorrow.

Silicon Valley already has enough control over people's lives, let's not let it rise to this level. It's up to consumers to draw the line somewhere, and this is as good a place as any to draw it. Just say no to silicon bucks!

No way........I sold all my Gold and Silver long ago and even sold enough of my single BitCoin to pay the original tab for it....and just having fun with the rest.

Now my money is in RE and digital form (stocks, bonds, banks, etc.)......

Not to say I won't buy some Gold if it's cheap enough....but none of this will ever represent even 2% of my $$.

So when they launch their crypto coin there will be 2239 different crypto currencies instead of the current 2238.
