By keeping federal drug laws in place, there are actually representing the interests of foreign drug cartels...whats it called when a govt aids and abets foreign criminal organizations, by enacting laws that benefit them specifically? I would say maybe treason, but it may go beyond that?
I agree with that.

But I don't agree that it rises to the level of treason.

That would require an Act of Congress and then a POTUS to sign off.

The Lincoln state has drifted far from that title- I get homesick for Chicago from time to time but you can't go back if it is not there

Chicago is still here, and it's as blue as it ever was. It was blue when you were here, too, unless you are very, very, very old. So I can only take your post to mean you miss the Chicago Democratic party.

Smoking marijuana will be limited to the smoker’s residence.

That depends on HOA rules and leases, where applicable.

Illinois will not be the first or only state to face these challenges.

Another government cashing in on poison. Why amI not surprised? They probably didn’t think it would pass a referendum. Which state will be the first to legalize heroin? Colorado? Washington?

Glad to see they addressed some of the other issues like expunging records etc.

The state is broker than a gambler the day before payday.

That's the big driving force behind all of this so there is something good coming from it.

They also passed a bunch of new casino stuff, so there is that too.

Another government dropping laws against personal freedom and freeing up the police to deal with real crimes.

Equating it to heroin makes you sound like one of the crazies from the 1930s that would have viewed Reefer Madness as a highly accurate portrayal of marijuana.

Vermont did not have a referendum from the voters either, it was legalized by the state legislature.

Illinois also included a legalized gambling measure, and I'm thinking great, just in time for the NFL playoffs, I can do my gambling at a brick and mortar establishment, only to find out that it is only allowed in an establishment within 5 blocks of a sports arena that holds at least 17,000 people.

Well, that sucks. Back to online betting.
