I was always uncomfortable with the "so and so hates America" hyperbole hurled at political adversaries. Unfortunately, it's not hyperbole any more. Genuine hatred for this country has made its way not just into the fringes of the left but into the mainstream of the left; into its media institutions, our academic institutions, even into the halls of Congress. I've never seen anything like it in my lifetime and it never occurred to me that I ever would.
