Extraordinary.
Trump decided against a military strike because he thought the potential loss of life in Iran was disproportionate to the shooting down of an unmanned drone.
He ignored his more hawkish advisors and backed his instincts not to get America involved in another potentially disastrous military campaign in the Middle East.
And you're vilifying him for this ?
Let me guess - if Trump had bombed Iran you'd be one of the first people on here condemning him for it ?
Trump acted like a POTUS should act and it's why he'll be re-elected next year.
It is a head-scratcher to say the least in regards to when he should have called off the strike. We can all agree with this. This makes me wonder even if there was going to be a military strike against Iran or not. I honestly think that Trump is bluffing and pumping his chest out trying to be the biggest most important guy in the room again.
It might have been "smart" for Trump to do that but I still wonder if he really did it. Trump has proven several times since he won the Presidency that he is a mental midget. I mean look at his misunderstanding of tariffs. I highly don't think given how he talked he really waited zero hour for this strike to not happen. And it wasn't smart broadcasting about the strike because now Iran knows they could be. FYI, I'm not saying this specifically about Trump but rather any President who would pull this.
He waited for the mission to launch to ask how many people would die, seems that should have been the first question before he gave approval.
That's a dishonest description of what happened. He DID NOT "give approval", and the mission didn't "launch" before he issued the stand down. Stop LYING!
Or prehaps he was sending a very deliberate message to the Iranians ?
Either way I doubt there's anything Trump could do which would satisfy you.
He sent a very powerful message to the Iranians by showing them what could be possible.
They will not be shooting down any drones or mining ships in the near future.
Trump doesn't have to do anything other than let the sanctions continue to frustrate the people and chip at the Iranian regime's power and influence.
I bet the Mullahs were soiling their pants when they found out those planes were coming.
That's just it. The mullahs are and will be just fine. They have vey safe places to hide. Their people are having to steal goats to feed their families and the mullahs are chowing down on all manner of delicacies while the IRG protect them. If the Iranian people had guns right now I think the mullahs would be soiling themselves though.

The irony is that high oil prices helped bring down the Shah regime because of the rampant inflation.
Economic sanctions and trade embargoes have historically been intermediate measures on the way to conventional war and are seen as acts of war. Trump has painted himself into a corner now as Iran now demands an end to the sanctions.
It is amazing how many CD posters have access to top secret/SCI briefing material.
None if us, including and especially including reporters, have a clue of what is going on during the uncounted meetings leading up to any action.
There is no need to be a part of the meetings when the history of our wars since WW2 provides all we need to know. It almost always involved ousting the rulers and putting in puppets friendly to western interests.
