Mexico kept telling them no slaves, but the settlers had them anyway. Hence, the war for independence.

Remember the Alamo.

Then the Yellow Rose got Santa Anna busy so the Texans could overwhelm the Mexicans at San Jacinto.

Last I read there were 250,000 slaves in Texas on Juneteenth, 1865.
There was also an issue with some conditions placed upon the immigrants which they did not abide by in good faith.

One I remember was the Americans , if they were not already Catholics, had to convert. There was a defrocked priest, I think Irish, who was selling fake baptismal certificates. The American immigrants went on and built their Baptist (or whatever) churches. Then numbers of white Americans were sneaking in without even attempting the formality of required documents and fees, they just blended in with the rest.

The slave trade really sent the government over the edge, it was blatant human trafficking.

Red State Texas?

House bill changing requirements for food stamps jeopardizes benefits for 125,000 Texans

"The measure would lower the income cap for food-stamp eligibility and impose stringent work requirements on most adults looking to qualify for the program."
______________

Even if a person needs it, they are not getting it. Not in Texas.

If there is a problem, have more kids. Until then people should stop whining about it. It is what it is and we all bleed red, so there you go.

So the name of Texas will change to “Tejas”? What will the new names of San Antonio, San Angelo, and El Paso be?

Non-Hispanic whites do not share the same culture and language that Hispanics do though. Skin color is irrelevant.

Yes, those with pure Spanish blood are white racially. However, most of the Hispanics south of our border and most that live here are Mestizos. They are mix of white Spanish blood and Amerindian. Some are mixed white and black whom are referred to as Mullatos.
