The "predatory lenders" by and large (92%) is the federal government.

Do you not know how student loans work?

Many millions of others will also want to do that, compounding the cost of the program considerably. Those of us who worked our way through college, living hand-to-mouth for years, need to be compensated for that. When all these people who should be in line for some type of tuition relief are accommodated, the government will be in so much debt, that the whole country will have its credit rating torpedoed.

The federal government has never swindled anyone. Good point.

Well, the hope is it's someone else's cash. Or if it is their own cash they are getting a heavy discount.

But we're all in this together so it doesn't matter. Go collectivism!

What gets me is the "tax" on trading which would be more than I currently pay the broker and exchange. An example is the 6E contract. I pay 4.25 per contract for a round trip trade. If I am reading his plan right I would also pay 12.50 in tax on a round trip trade in the 6E. (125,000 value of each contract X .005% = 6.25)

16.75 per contract per round trip would kill the futures markets. Everybody is saying "wall street should pay since it was bailed out". I never got a penny from the bailout nor did anyone else that participates in the financial markets as a retail trader. I should pay this why?

People that borrowed money for college should pay what they agreed upon. Nobody had a gun to your head when you signed the papers. Now they want to put a gun to my head to pay for the mistake they made.

At best the interest charges should be reduced to the federal funds rate and all new guaranteed student loans should be ended. Let students borrow from traditional lenders if they need to; the underwriters will determine the likelihood of repayment. Sure, there will be many students that can't attend college due to funding issues at first. Over time the pricing structure will reflect the market value and students will be able to pay for school out of pocket.

Yes.
That's a complete misreprsentation of what's Bernie's proposing.

Bernie is a greedy and immoral man.
So why do you support GOP puppets who confiscated people's incomes in order to pay off the culprits of the Wall Street crash?

Simplistic thinking. This is a tax on every American who has retirement savings in the form of a pension, and/or a 401K/IRA/etc. So, Bernie's plan is to tax Americans' retirement to pay for this. Since far too few Americans have adequate financial resources to support them in their retirement years as it is, how is this not going to create a crisis at the other end of the age spectrum? IOW, Bernie is a math-challenged and financially ignorant idiot. /smh
