I haven't seen a lot of road work but have seen a lot of bridge work. I know I took 80 last year across nearly the whole state and that was in beautiful condition nearly the whole way.

What has a red state got to do with it - I'm in a blue state - NY and the taxes are unbelievable. There was an article recently that just in the city of Buffalo alone - 50 people a day are leaving the state.

Big deal. Last year Republicans in the highly red state of Oklahoma raised the gas tax by 3 cents and it doesn't even go to fix the roads even though Oklahoma has some of the worst roads in the nation.

So what? People have been leaving Buffalo ever since the 1960s.

Not sure what point you're trying to make there?

OK is still in the 10 lowest gas tax states.

I'm Switzerland on this one, each state can decide for itself what they want to do.

Just pointing out the budget impact and the double whammy in CA between gas and electricity this year on the working poor.

What is the most alarming issue above?

California uses its tax revenues for things like healthcare for the homeless and tough environmental regulations (like product warnings saying "this product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer.")

But unfortunately republicans could care less about California residents living on average 6 years longer than residents of conservative states. Instead republicans are concerned about attacking California for having tough environmental regulations (regulations that decrease profits for the large corporations that fund the republican party.)

Much of the difference is likely has to do with the poverty of much of MS. Been to MS, the poverty is much more widespread than most other places I have been.

Like raising the taxes on everything to fund all the "feel good" ideals that never work.

I know it will never happen, but I wish California would break off from the Union and become their own Country... They say they can, so why stop them?
This. They're something like a cloud of locusts. Destroy one place, then move to the next....

According to AAA, the average price in Pennsylvania is $2.84, while California is $3.75.

It's not just that, it's also overly-bloated pensions and health benefits that were given to state/city workers. The Dems basically bribed all of the state worker unions with premium pensions and salaries to pander for votes several years ago and now it's all coming home to roost as the say.

It's ridiculous how poorly this state is ran. As crude as it sounds I'm waiting for the MIL to buy the farm so we can move. She's 83 and close with her daughter, my spouse, and we don't want to move out of state as she needs a lot of help these days.

I'd think you would have a few qualms about referring to human beings as "illegals."
