Because of course, one guy who has made this his life's goal represents an entire group of people. Or so the arguments often times go. Arguments based in nothing more than a hatred for others. (this goes for both sides)

And that is all that this is now. A Trump campaign rally, where he'll get the crowd chanting and brag about imaginary things, and sell hats. Nobody owes him any respect for ruining the holiday for others.
It will be a Trump rally, and I'm still willing to bet that Trump will pervert the celebration that he has already ruined with those who disagree.
How could anyone find burning a flag more appealing than eating a hot dog, drinking a beer, and watching your brother-in-law blow his fingers up lighting fireworks?

Because it is not burning the material that matters- it is the destruction of a symbol, which has greater ramifications.
Flag burning is legal, however that does not make it acceptable behavior for those who value the rights and priveledge of being a US citizen. Burning the flag shows contempt for what the nation stands for, thus symbolically performing the destruction of the nation.
Libs are essentially "fifth columnists" in America, seeking the destroy what distinguishes America from despotic, totalitarian nations. Ironically, those tyrannical governments tend to be the ones liberals love. If politics have a characture of evil, it is certainly a liberal.
Libs have no problem burning an American flag, but would go ballistic if someone burnt a gay pride flag or condemned them for displaying Mexican, Palestinian, North Vietnamese, or the USSR flag.
