Why is it, that despite propping up numerous dictatorships and staging numerous coups and no matter how tyrannical it is, the US itself has never suffered from one?

I'm not talking about the ones where it almost suffered it or from rebellions that could have lead to it and especially not the ones from the past; I'm talking about at present times and a real dictatorship that is ruled by a power hungry maniac who is willing to murder millions of his/her own people to remain in power and to pillage the country until every single wealth is in his/her grasp like Pol Pot or Robert Mugabe? Or a violent coup where hundreds if not thousands of people die similar to the one that happened in Turkey? And Why hasn't the enemies of the US ever used coups or dictators as weapons against the US? If it works in other countries, why can't it work in the US? Is the US government that strong? Is the will of the American people that strong? What is the difference between the US and those countries that have suffered from coups and dictatorships and will it ever happened to the US at some point?

I think separation of powers is at least part of it - the president just doesn't have that much power. Also, the other branches of government have plenty of both liberals and conservatives, so they'll never be unified in support of the president and willing to assist his takeover of the country.

And to my knowledge, coups usually happen in countries with worse standards of living and under greater geopolitical threat than the US has been in a very long time - in other words, the American people aren't in crisis and have no reason to politically mobilize behind a coup.

Considering what the rogue democrats and intel agencies did recently we can't really use the word "never" !!! It wasn't a military coup but coups are not limited to military ones !!!
The repression and lack of integrity by bureaucrats aligned with a political party continues to have important negative effects !!!

Why on earth would anyone want to topple the wise and benevolent fed govt.? Especially given that so many households receive a check from said govt every month.

"Shall not be infringed."

There are constitutional safeguards in place to ensure that the government are servants of the people instead of vice-versa.

Not really. Or not substantively enough to make much difference to the basic underlying concept.

The point behind it is prophylaxis against too much concentration of power. In that sense it's done reasonably well.

True.

But the constitution is the law of the land only as long as most of us agree that it is the law of the land. However much we disagree on the implementation, the overwhelming majority of us still accept it is as our bedrock.

Nothing lasts forever. To the original question - we as a nation just haven't been around long enough yet. One or the other will come.
